The Book of Judges Chapter 5 of 21 (To update)

The Book of Judges

Chapter

5

¹ Then Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang on that day saying: ² "When locks are long in Israel, when the people offer themselves willingly bless the LORD!

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verses 1 to 2)

Amen oh God my Father may Your name be blessed and worshipped freely and without any form of constraint such as sin Amen. Let us all bless the LORD credit to GloryToFatherGod.

³ "Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the LORD I will sing, I will make melody to the LORD, the God of Israel.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 3)

Oh God when I remember how much You love me, my groans and mumbles become melodies of thanksgiving for there is none like You my God and Father Amen.

⁴ "Lord when you went out from Seir when you marched from the region of Edom the earth trembled, and the heavens poured, the clouds indeed poured water.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 4)

Oh God my Father when You revealed Yourself to me when I was 18 years old, my heart trembled and my body shook with excitement. It was as if I was having a heart attack or a sudden panic attack. The moment was of fear but glorious that I will always treasure. Amen!

⁵ The mountains quaked before the LORD, the One of Sinai, before the LORD, the God of Israel.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 5)

Apparently oh God my Father we are to witness many similar events such as earthquakes that will be a sign given by You to show us who is really in control of our lives Amen.

⁶ "In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, caravans ceased and travelers kept to the byways.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 6)

Oh brothers and sisters while we thank God for the good times we also reflect on the not so good times and turn to God for forgiveness and thanksgiving for having delivered us from our times of tribulation and trouble. If we had to reflect we would all remember those times when we were delivered from some form of tribulation or crisis in our lives Amen.

⁷ The peasantry prospered in Israel, they grew fat on plunder, because you arose, Deborah, arose as a mother in Israel.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 7)

Oh God my Father the Israelites of these times seemed to worship Deborah the prophetess more than You for they addressed her as being the Mother of the people, however, in truth You are the true mother and father of Your people Amen. Let us not gratify our politicians as if they were or are our saviours Amen.

⁸ When new gods were chosen then war was in the gates, Was shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel?

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 8)

Oh God my Father today we still have war at our gates, since we have been relying on science, economy and technology so much that they have alienated us and have become 'gods' for us who try to replace You the one and only true God.

⁹ My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the LORD.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 9)

My God and Father I pray for all the leaders of the World during this time of pandemic uprisal. I pray that You give them good sense and judgement in order to make the right decisions for the good of all Amen. May You be blessed and worshipped by all My God and Father Amen.

¹⁰ "Tell of it you who ride on white donkeys, you who sit on rich carpets and you who walk by the way. ¹¹ To the sound of musicians at the watering places there they repeat the triumphs of the LORD, the triumphs of his peasantry in Israel. Then down to the gates marched the people of the Lord

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verses 10 to 11)

Oh God, my Father You have done things great and small. You have saved us from our tribulations and misery. We were peasants in our situations. We all were in our situation of Egypt meaning pain and anguish, however, You liberated us from such a time. You baffle the minds of unbelievers however You did it with love, power might and glory. Blessed be Your mighty name Amen!

¹² "Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, utter a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives O son of Abinoam.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 12)

Arise oh people of God, take heart for this virus will soon come to its end and then we can go for communion as Christians and celebrate the mystery of our faith Amen.

¹³ Then down marched the remnant of the noble; the people of the LORD marched down for him against the mighty.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 13)

Your chosen people marched in glory against their enemies, because they were empowered by You. They knew that once You were with them any enemy or obstacle could be overcome Amen. I pray for such a strong faith my God and Father Amen.

¹⁴ From Ephraim they set out into the valley following you, Benjamin, with your kin; from Machir marched down the commanders, and from Zebulun those who bear the marshal's staff; ¹⁵ the chiefs of Issachar came with Deborah and Issachar faithful to Barak into the valley they rushed out at his heels, Among the clans of Reuben there were great searching of heart.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 14 to 15)

Oh God my Father when we are faithful we obey and give praise. The Israelites are said to have been faithful to Barak, however it seems that they still had doubts. The biblical author writes great searching of hearts, which might mean anxiety or distrust. Even though they could place their trust in You since they had witnessed many of Your signs and wonders they still had doubts. I pray that You heal us of our insecurity and help us build our trust in You Amen.

¹⁶ Why did you tarry among the sheepfolds, to hear the piping for the flocks? Among the clans of Reuben there were great searching of heart.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 16)

Oh God, my Father today You are asking us a very important question. Why did you ask to be baptised as Roman Catholic as a Christian and then you have forsaken your religion with another one, why did you want to be married and then you separated and had your marriage annulled? Where is our faithfulness? What has become of our faith? Amen.

¹⁷ Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan; and Dan, why did he abide with the ships? Asher sat still at the coast of the sea, settling down by his landings.

(The Book of Judges Chapter 5 verse 17)

Oh brothers and sisters in front of a tribulation or challenge we all react in a different way, some are active, while others are totally passive or simply do not care. I pray that when faced with the challenge of obeying the Good News of the Kingdom we are not found passive, but ready for action. Amen.
